What the Bible attributes to Allah

Bismillah

II Kings 19: 16

Lord, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, Lord thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

- He is All-seeing and All-Hearing in Islam and Glory to Him! does not have to be reproached.

Psalm 44: 23

Awake, O Lord! Why do you sleep?

Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever.

-Allah never sleeps and does not require rest in Islam. Far above our weaknesses is He.

Psalm 78: 65

Then the Lord awoke as from sleep,

as a man wakes from the stupor of wine.

-Not only is God sleeping but is stupified like a drunkard?!? Subhanallah! Does this not horrify anyone what is being attributed to The Perfect One?

I Kings 11: 9-10

The LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart had turned away from the LORD , the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice. 10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD's command.

Genesis 9: 23

When he (Noah) drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.

II Samuel 11: 2-5, 14-17

One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, 3 and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, "Isn't this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" 4 Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (She had purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then [1] she went back home. 5 The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, "I am pregnant."

14 In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. 15 In it he wrote, "Put Uriah in the front line where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die."

16 So while Joab had the city under siege, he put Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were. 17 When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of the men in David's army fell; moreover, Uriah the Hittite died.

-The All-Knowing God does not know that His servants will perform such henious acts? Solomon, the polytheist, Noah, the foolish drunkard, and David, the adultering murderer all slipped past the Knowledge of Allah as He was choosing who would lead his people and call them to righteousness?

Psalm 89: 39

You have renounced the covenant with your servant

and have defiled his crown in the dust.

-In Islam, Allah never breaks His Promises. Is this not a sign of weakness that one must lie in order to succeed?

Psalm 89: 46-49

46 How long, O LORD ? Will you hide yourself forever?

How long will your wrath burn like fire?

47 Remember how fleeting is my life.

For what futility you have created all men!

48 What man can live and not see death,

or save himself from the power of the grave [5] ?

Selah

49 O Lord, where is your former great love,

which in your faithfulness you swore to David?

-God is hidden and has left men to fed for themselves? Then why are there prophets and revelations?

Just wanted to share.

Peace

Bismillah

Maryam 19: 88-95

They say: "The Most Gracious has betaken a son!"

Indeed you have put forth an evil thing

At it the skies are about to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,

That they attributed a son to The Most Gracious.

For it is not consistant with the majesty of The Most Gracious that He should beget a son.

All of the beings in the heavens and the earth come to The Most Gracious as a slave.

He does take an account of them all, and has numbered them exactly.

And everyone of them will come to Him singly on the Day of Judgement.

Bismellah.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

[2.23] And if you are in doubt as to that which We have revealed to Our servant(Muhammad PBUH), then produce a chapter like it and call on your witnesses besides Allah if you are truthful.

[2.24] But if you do (it) not and never shall you do (it), then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers.

Allah the great said the truth.

Salam

Dan, for someone who has taught me much about reading the quran at more than face value, I am surprised at you wink.gif

I'm not going to go to all of your postings, but I'll just point out this one smile.gif (I urge you to further research the rest)

Psalm 89 is talking about God's promise to David to "make your dynasty stand forever and establish your throne through all ages". (PS 89 2-5) The quote you pasted was the reaction of the people to the defeat of David.

How could this be? God promised a throne as enduring as the heavens.

But let's look further. Do you, yourself, not agree that this life is merely a predecessor to the next?

It is assumed that God meant David a place in heaven, not a throne on earth, for a seat in heaven is far greater than that of this world .

No, not at all, like I said, I just don't want to go through the whole list putting them in context smile.gif I still urge you to do so, but If you want, I'd be happy to go down them later. I have to get going though - I run a business that needs my attention smile.gif

I'll put one more in context.....

Your first one, you said

"II Kings 19: 16

Lord, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, Lord thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

- He is All-seeing and All-Hearing in Islam and Glory to Him! does not have to be reproached."

This is nothing but a man speaking to god. He is asking to hear him. If you ask god to help you, for his guidance, does that mean that he isn't aware of what is going on? No, it simply means you are praying for the strength you need.

Kings II 19:20 - God resonds with "Whereas you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard you."

If I say "please god, hear my prayers and help me" - that does not mean he didn't hear them unless I said it. It is just the cries of a mortal man asking for help smile.gif

Bismillah

open, Lord thine eyes, and see

You read this as only a prayer? To attribute to God what He does not attribute to Himself is a horrible sin in Islam and this phrase is saying that God needs to open His eyes to see. Did God ever tell us that they were closed? How is this assumption made when God tells us that He is All-Seeing?

If you lose something and ask for help and the other person says, "Open your eyes and look." Do you not take offence at that? How much greater an offence to tell God that.

I would like you to keep filling me in on the other verses. I want to know about how God has to be commanded to wake up. I am also curious about His poor judgement in messengers in the Bible. In Islam these are actually false accusations attributed to Allah's prophets.

Hope the business is doing good.
