  1. As-Salaam alaikum, May I have the pleasure of reminding you/us to always:--- (1) Be scrupulous in all our affairs. Righteousness in the deen depends on Righteousness as the great Imam, Sidi al-Hasan Basri, Rahimahullah, said: "Ascend to Allah by means of your himma (efforts) since what was going to happen has happened and what is decreed will certainly come about. By Allah, turning to creation is hidden shirk. The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: 'If someone devotes himself to Allah, Allah will spare him every burden and provide for him from where he does not reckon." Prefer Allah to all things since things are by their nature transitory and vanishing. 'All things are passing except His Face'. (27:88) (2) Keep your tongues still except in Zikrullah. The disasters of the tongue are many. A man may speak one word which he finds inconsequential, but because of it fall into the fire of Jahannam for 70 years, as is related. All words which are not Zikr are a distraction and there is no hour in which a person does not remember Allah, Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala, which will not be a regret for him on the Day of Rising, as is related. So, beware of sitting with people of this world and socializing with except out of legal necessity. The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: "Do not sit with the dead or your hearts will die." He was asked: "Who are the dead, O Messenger of Allah?". He answered: "Those who love this world and desire it." And Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says:-- "So turn away from him who turns away from Our Remembrance and desires nothing but the life of this world." (53:29)
  2. As-Salaam alaikum, Ayat or verse 16 of Surat Sajdah of the Holy Qur'an (32:16) reads:-- "THEIR SIDES FORSAKE THEIR BEDS." This is in reference to those servants of Allah, Jallah-Jalalahu, who offer the voluntary night prayer, known as Tahajjud. It is the same Sallah about which the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:-- "Hold fast to night prayer, for it was the way of the righteous before you, a way of drawing closer to your Lord, an expiation for wrong deeds, and a shield from sin." [Tirmidhi]. 'Qiyam' literally means standing up, particularly after sleeping, just as we say... 'YUOM AL-QIYAMAH' for Day of Judegement as we rise to stand before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, after much rest in our graves. That is why sleep is like a daily death, and Qiyam is to rise from it. Whoever stands in the night in prayer, Allah will make easy for him in standing on the Day of Judgement, as some of our 'Ulama observe. Sayyadi Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, also advised: "Whoever loves to find the long standing of the day of Resurrection less difficult should let him show himself to Allah in the darkness of the night prostrating ( in Sajdah) and standing, fearing the Hereafter and hoping for Mercy of his Lord. In view of this, we should all make it a regular habit to be offering the Tahajjud every day..every night.. of our life. Best Wishes.
  3. As-Salaam alaikum, Sayyadi Hassan al-Basri, may Allah be Merciful to him, relates that a group of individuals claimed to love Allah and so Allah tested their love by revealing the Ayat: "Say, If you love Allah, then follow me and Allah will love you and forgive you your sins." (3:31) Al-Junaid Baghdadi, may Allah be Merciful to him, said: "No one has reached Allah except through Allah. And the path to reaching Allah is following the Chosen One, al-Mustafa, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam." Reaching Allah means attaining a state in which Allah is pleased with one. It is based on this perspective that the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:- "All of my community will enter paradise except those who refuse." It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who refuses?" He said:- "Whoever obeys me will enter Heaven. Whoever disobeys me has refused." [Bukhari, Vol. 6].
  4. "The one who tries to reach Me, knows Me The one who knows Me, wants Me The one who wants Me, seeks Me The one who seeks Me, finds Me The one who finds Me, serves Me The one who serves Me, remembers Me The one who remembers Me, I remember him with My Mercy". (Hadith Qudsi)
  5. As-Salaam alaikum, In a Hadith Qudsi, Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala said:-- "For Me, the most blessed of My Friends is the person of faith who is unburdened (by possessions), who takes pleasure in prayer, who carries out well his devotion to his Lord and eagerly serves Him in secret. He is concealed among the people; no one points him out. His sustenance is barely sufficient, and he is content with that. His death comes quickly, there are few mourners, and his estate is small." This Noble Hadith is included, with minor variations, in the canonical collections of Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Ibn Hanbal.
  6. As-Salaam alaikum, It is my pleasure to invite your attention to the attached booklet compiled by Sheikh Ali Qari, titled: 'MUKHTASAR HIZBUL A'AZAM'. It is a collection of various kinds of Du'as and/or Supplications covering almost every area of life in this world and the Hereafter. You are aware that through Du'a, we fulfill the Order of Allah that we should request, ask/appeal to Him, Jallah-Jalalahu, for all we need... all we want. Also, Du'a ia an expression of our servitude to Allah Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala.... as it indicates our utter poverty and absolute dependence on Him. It helps us recognize Him as Rabb (Lord) and Malik (Owner of Everything). Find time to peruse this booklet and use it in everyday life, and you will see/appreciate what we are saying above.. Best Wishes.. MUKHTASASR-Hizbul-Azam.pdf
  7. As-Salaam alaykum, Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:-- "THERE ARE 2 PHRASES THE ARE LIGHT ON THE TONGUE BUT HEAVY ON THE SCALE OF REWARDS AND ARE DEAR TO (ALLAH) THE GRACIOUS ONE. THESE ARE SUBHANALLAHI WA BI-HAMDIHI [All Glory is to Allah and all Praise to Him]; and SUBHANALLAH AL-AZIM [Glorified is Allah, the Great]." [Muslim, Bukhari, Tirmidhi]. In view of this, we should include the recital of these 2 Noble Phrases in good numbers DAILY in our Zikr... when we come to remember Allah Ta'ala in the mornings and evenings. Many Regards.
  8. As-Salaam alaikum, In many places of the Holy Qur'an, notably Ayat 110 of Surat Ali-Imran (3:110) and Ayat 100 of Surat Tauba (9:100), Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, praised and showed His Pleasure for the Sahaba, the Companions of Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam. They were a people whose actions and behaviors were all in accordance with the Islamic Shari'a... their sense of Generosity, Forgiveness, Justice and Selfless service to Humanity and Worship of Allah were highly exemplary Find hereby attached a compilation of 51 stories from a work titled: 'Companions Of The Prophet', for your perusal and use... as there are certainly lessons to draw therefrom. Best Wishes.. Companions of the Prophet.pdf
  9. As-Salaam alaikum, As a reminder, I wish to invite your attention to the following Ahadith.... all related from the Leader of Mankind and Jinn, Sayyadina Muhammad, the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, who said:-- ( 1) "Do not drink alcohol, for it is the key to all evil".- Ibn Majah (2) "The beauty of one's Islam requires his leaving what does not concern him".- Ibn Hibban (3) "Livelihood seeks a person out in the same way that his death seeks him out"- Ibn Hibban (4) "All the children of Adam are wrongdoers, but the best wrongdoers are those that repent"- al-Tirmidhi (5) "Feed the hungry, visit the sick and free captives."--Bukhari (6) "The key to Paradise is Sallah, and the key to Sallah is Wudu"- Tirmidhi.
  10. As-Salaam alaikum, When his companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what are the most excellent of actions?" The beloved of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, replied:-- "To gladden the heart of human beings, To feed the hungry, To help the afflicted, To lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and To remove the sufferings of the injured." [Sahih Bukhari ]. So, over to us all for guidance and necessary action accordingly.
  11. As-Salaam alaikum, In Ayat 21 of Surat Ahzab of the Holy Qur'an (33:21), Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:-- "You have indeed in the Apostle of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct), for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah." So, since our object is Allah Ta'ala and the Final Day, we are charged to follow the Prophetic guidance shown by Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam-- the guidance referred to as "a beautiful example.." that Allah loves. Teachers of old have always taught that the Prophet's beautiful example lies primarily in the inner qualities of his soul... designated by his compassion, justice, generosity, forgiveness etc... We should imitate him in this, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, by obeying the rules of Islamic Shari'a and overcoming everyday forgetfulness of the soul. This is closely related with the teaching in Ayat 31 of Surat Ali-Imran:-- "Say: If you love Allah, follow me, and Allah will forgive you your sins" (3:31) In otherwords, the way to become worthy of Allah's love is to follow Prophetic guidance. The goal of following this guidance is explained by a famous Hadith Qudsi in which the Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, quotes the words of Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala:-- "When My Servant approaches Me through good works, then I love him. When I love him, I am the hearing with which he hears, the eye with which he sees, the hand with which he grasps, and the foot with which he walks." [Bukhari, Hadith No. 6502].
  12. As-Salaam alaikum, During his life, Imam Abu abdullah Muhammad Ibn Ahmad al-Qurtubi (d. 671/1273), may Allah be Merciful to him, produced a classic Tafsir of the Holy Qur'an.... which up to now is adjudged as one of the best explanations of the meaning of Allah's Words in the Holy Book. It is my pleasure to share with you the attached English Language translation of his monumental classic work, offered by A'isha Bewley... intended to give us access to the immense learning of Sheikh al-Qurtubi, and illuminate the way of understanding the Holy Qur'an. Do enjoy it. Tafsir_al_Qurtubi_-_Vol_I.pdf
  13. As-Salaam alaikum, In Ayat 87 of Surat Nisa'i of the Holy Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala says:-- "God! There is no god But He: of a surety He Shall gather you together against the Day of Judgement, about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than God's?" Belief in the Final Day is one of the 6 pillars of fath...Imaan...preached by all Prophets. Belief on/in this Day should make us focus on what is our ultimate best interest and act accordingly. In that respect, find hereby attached a copy of Dr. Umar al-Ashqar's work titled: 'The Final Day in the Light Of the Qur'an and Sunnah'... It is a very well researched work, informative and educative on this subject. Enjoy it. The%20Day%20of%20Resurrection.pdf
  14. As-Salaam alaikum, We all know that death is a necessary end for all of us, it will come when it will. The book: 'Sharhus Sudoor' by Imam Jalaluddin Suyuti, may Allah be Merciful to him, is a very illuminating work/discussion on issues regarding death and the grave. Just what is death, what happens after death before the Day of Mahshar? All these and more are discussed in details in this book, a copy of which is hereby attached. Examine it towards preparation for death...... Best Wishes. 129-1423770807.pdf
  15. As-Salaam alaykum, That popular Tafsir ( explanations ) of the Holy Qur'an titled: Tafsir al-Jalalayn, by Imam Jalaluddin Suyuti and Imam Jalaluddin Mahali, may Allah be Merciful to them both, is/was a 15th Century Tafsir.... a universally acclaimed and respected classic Tafsir work on the Holy Qur'an. Find a copy of this classic Tafsir hereby attached for your perusal and use... share it with others too. May we all be lovers and followers of the Qur'an forever... ameen. My Regards. 17. As-Salaam alaykum, In Ayat 46 of Surat Kahfi of the Holy Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala says:-- "Wealth and children are the embellishment of worldly life, and the good things that last (al-baqiyat-as-salihat) are greater with your Lord and greater in expectation." Material things are short-lived and temporary, but "the good things that last" will continue into the hereafter, and the hereafter is far better and everlasting. What are "the good things that last"? The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, told us what they are in a Hadith in which one of his companions, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:-- "Make plenty of the 'good things that last (al-baqiyat-salihat)'. It was said: And what are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "TAKBIR (Saying: ALLAHU AKBAR); TAHLIL (Saying: LA-ILAHA ILLALLAH); TAHMID (Saying: ALHAMDULILLAH); and Saying: LA-HAWLA WALA QUWATA ILLA BILLAH." [Bukhari, Muslim]. In view of this, we should include lots of reciting of the 'baqiyat salihat in our daily Zikr, when we come to remember Allah in the mornings and evenings. Best Wishes.
  18. As-Salaam alaykum, The Noble Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, once asked his companions: "Are you unable to earn 1,000 good deeds a day?" Someone asked: "How can we earn 1,000 deeds a day?" The Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, replied:- "Make 100 Tasbih [ recital of SUBHANALLAH ] and 1,000 good deeds will be recorded for you or 1,000 sins will be erased." [Muslim, Hadith 2698]. In view of this, we should include lots of TASBIH everyday in our Zikr, when we come to remember Allah, Tabaraka Wa Ta'ala, in the mornings and evenings. Many Regards.
  19. As-Salaam alaykum, One day, seated among his companions, the Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:-- "Three things of your world are dear to me: Fragrance, women (his pure wives) and the coolness of my eyes is in Sallah." Sayyadina Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, said:-- "And 3 things of the world are also dear to me: looking at the face of Allah's Messenger, spending my wealth on Allah's Messenger and that my daughter be in the marriage of Allah's Messenger" And Umar Ibn Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said:-- "Three things of the world are also dear to me: Giving Righteous commands, stopping evil and wearing old and torn clothes." Hearing this, Sayyadina Othman Ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, said...... at this point, I will invite you to open the file attached, so that you can see/read the rest of this Noble Hadith, as narrated by Imam Ibn Hajar Asqalaani in his book: Munabbahaat..may we all benefit from the lessons contained in this Hadith and live our lives according to the Hadith... ameen... Best Wishes to us all. three-beloved-things-of-allah-his-beloveds.pdf
  20. As-Salaam alaikum, It is my pleasure to share with you a copy of Sheikh Ahmad Zarruq's Du'a or Wazifah, hereby attached, which the Noble Messenger of Allah himself, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, admired and named it as 'THE SHIP OF RESCUE FOR THOSE WHO TAKE SHELTER IN ALLAH'. Yes, it is such a beautifully arranged Wazifah.... find the time to examine and use it. May we be opportuned to make this important Wazifah as part of our daily Zikr, when we come to remember Allah in the mornings and evenings... ameen. Many Regards. Wazifa Zarruqiya Digital Edition 1.pdf
  21. As-Salaam alaikum, In Ayat 119 of Surat Tauba of the Holy Qur'an (9:119), Allah, Azzah Wa Jallah, says:-- "O BELIEVERS! FEAR ALLAH (adopt Taqwa), AND BE WITH THE SAADIQEEN (the Truthful ones)." The Saadiqeen are people who have a clear sense of right and wrong, and when truth is presented, they readily accept it. In this regards, I wish to invite your attention to the attached booklet titled:- "THE SAADIQEEN", by Majlisul 'Ulama of South Africa. The booklet carries lots of advice and admonitions to us from the first generation Awliya; with that in-built capacity to aid us reform ourselves and conduct our lives within the parameters of the Shari'ah... It also reminds us of the Aakhirat and how to prepare for it accordingly. Ohh! we definitely NEED this booklet by our side... open it and see wonders.. Best Wishes. THE SAADIQEEN_ERead.pdf
  22. As-Salaam alaikum, The Apostle of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: "He who knows himself, knows his Lord"..ie if he knows himself as perishable, he knows Allah as Everlasting, or if he knows himself as humble, he knows Allah as Almighty, or if he knows himself as a servant, he knows Allah as the Lord. Therefore one who does not know himself is debarred from knowledge of practically all things. In the attachment to this topic is a file/work by Sayyadi Ibn Arabi, may Allah be pleased with him, on this particular issue... which has been commented upon by so many scholars over the years... but this one from the Sheikh is particularly apt, inspiring and deeply informative/educative. Find time to examine it and thereby know yourself well. Many Regards. Ibn%20Arabi.Man%20Arafah%20Nafsah%20Whoso%20Knoweth%20Himself%20Knows%20His%20Lord.pdf
  23. As-Salaam alaikum, Yes, every soul shall taste death... Death will come when it will come, undoubtedly. The other day I came across a Du'a... a Supplication from the Grand Master, Sheikh Muhiyyeddin Ibn Arabi that will facilitate easy death. I thought that I should share it with you, copy hereby attached. Make it part of your Zikr.. or part of your regular Du'a (s) sessions.. for the obvious benefits it carries. Best Wishes. 24. As-Salaam alaikum, In Ayat 65 of Surat Nisa'i of the Holy Qur'an (4:65), Allahu, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says:-- "BUT NO! BY YOUR LORD! THEY WILL NEVER BELIEVE UNTIL THEY MAKE YOU (Muhammad) THE JUDGE OF WHAT IS IN DISPUTE BETWEEN THEM AND FIND WITHIN THEMSELVES NO DISLIKE OF THAT WHICH YOU DECIDE, AND THEY SUBMIT WITH FULL SUBMISSION." With this, it is as if Allah Ta'ala is saying that this affair is not like they assume.... that they can connect to Allah without the necessity of following His Messenger, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam. "They will never truly believe", in Me and in you O Muhammad, "Until they make you the judge", ie make you the criterion of judgement regarding their rights; "...and find within themselves no dislike of that which you decide", ie they find no constraints or distress in what you have judged in your judgement; "...and they submit with full submission"- ie that they confine themselves completely and perfectly to all your judgements thoroughly, and be guided in all they do by your decisions, as a covenant between you and them. This Ayat is an answer to those who claim that it is sufficient for them in their religion to follow the Book of Allah only, without following the Sunnah of His Messenger. They claim that the Sunnah and the Prophetic Traditions have weaknesses and obscurities. Whoever claims thus faces the danger of disbelief (Kufr) as this Noble Ayat clarifies. Beware!!
  25. As-Salaam alaikum, May I have the pleasure of sharing with you the attached 3 files as follows:--- (1) "Akhlaq-l-Mustapha'', by Sheikh Abdullah Ibn Fodio. It is on the attainment of spiritual clarity and removal of spiritual darkness by adopting the character traits of the Chosen One, Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam. (2) "Purifying and Striving Against the Nafs (ego)", by Sheikh Abdalqadir Isa. This is all about Jihad and Mujahada; whereby we strive to repel the enemy.. Satan and Nafsu and other outward enemies... all in accordance with Ayat 78 of Surat Hajj (22:78) of the Holy Qur'an and Ayat 41 of Surat Tauba (9:41).. all of which spoke about striving on the Way to Allah, Azzah Wa Jallah. (3) "Nur-i-Muhammad", by Sheikh Ahmad abdur-Rashid. It highlights how the Noble Prophet, peace be upon him, is seen as that pre-eternal Light that came before creation started... Yes, his being that initial Light from the core of Divine Presence.
